Kelly Langenberg

Kelly Langenberg (DMA-University of IL at Urbana-Champaign, MM-DePaul University, BM, BME- Baldwin Wallace University) is a classical horn performer and educator passionate about artistic excellence in instrumental music. In 2025 Kelly joined the faculty of Troy University as the Assistant Professor of Horn and Music History. Prior teaching appointments include Valdosta State University, Northern Illinois University, University of Illinois-Chicago, DePaul University, and Illinois Wesleyan University.
As an active freelancer in the Chicago area and now in southeastern Alabama and the FL panhandle region, Kelly’s “ferociously powerful” (ITG Journal, 2014) playing has been heard in orchestral and chamber music settings throughout the United States and abroad. Kelly is currently a member of the Albany Symphony (GA) and Northwest Florida Symphony Orchestra. Other orchestral experience includes the Jacksonville Symphony, Pensacola Symphony, Chicago Philharmonic, Wisconsin Philharmonic, the Dubuque, Peoria, Lake Forest, Elgin, Kalamazoo, Quad City, and Yucatan (Mexico) symphonies. As a chamber musician, Kelly is a member of the Alliance Brass Quintet and Alloy Horn Quartet and has performed at the Newport Classical Music Festival (RI) Italian Brass Week Festival (Florence, Italy), Wildflower Festival (PA), Chamber Music Festival of Aguascalientes (Mexico), and as a featured artist at the International Horn Symposium, among others. Kelly humorously notes she may be one of the few people to have declined an appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show, but she has shared the stage with artists including Doc Severinsen, Peter Gabriel, Josh Groban, Il Volo, and Celtic Woman.
Her commitment to artistic leadership led her to pursue a cognate in higher education administration during her doctoral studies, and she also holds a Certificate in Nonprofit Management from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Kelly is a Hans Hoyer USA Concert Artist and a Denis Wick Artist and Clinician.
