Horn player of Spanish Brass

Horn player of Spanish Brass Manuel was born in 1971 and commenced his musical studies at the age of eight at the school of his home town of Guadassuar, Valencia.

He later went on to study at the ‘Maestro Vert’ Professional Music Conservatory in Carcaixent. His studies were concluded at the ‘Joaquin Rodrigo’ Higher Conservatory of Music in Valencia under the tutelage of Joaquin Vidal, Encara Grau and Jose Rosell, here his work was noted with Distinction and at the end of his studies was awarded the Prize of Honour.

From 1990 to 1993 he perfected his technique at the Conservatoire National de Région, Versailles (France) under Daniel Bourgue, where he specialised, winning First Prize and Gold Medal.

Manolo was also a member of the Spanish National Youth Orchestra and collaborated with the City of Granada Orchestra, Gran Canaria Philharmonic Orchestra, Madrid Symphony Orchestra, National Orchestra of Spain and Teatre Lliure Orchestra among others.

The quintet he belongs to, SPANISH BRASS Luur Metalls, was awarded First Prize at the International Brass Quintet Competition in “Ville de Narbonne” in 1996.

From 1989 to 1998 he taught at the professional Conservatories of Cáceres, Gijón and Alvacete. Since 1998 he enjoys a leave of absence, which allows him to focus exclusively on Chamber Music with his quintet SPANISH BRASS Luur Metalls, occasionally touring Europe, Asia and America. He has carried out teaching work throughout Spain and abroad giving courses and “master-classes”.

His most outstanding work was with the JONDE (Spanish National Youth Orchestra), JONC (National Youth Orchestra of Catalonia), JOGV (Youth Orchestra of the Generalitat Valenciana), OJA (Andalucía Youth Orchestra), Youth Orchestra of the Community of Madrid, The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (Chine), Georgia University (U.S.A.), Trumpet Lounge (Japan), The Showa School for Performing Arts (Japan), Lieksa Brass Week (Finland), Eastman School (U.S.A.), Venezuelan Youth Orchestra, Dartington Internacional Summer School (United Kingdom), International Winter Festival of Music of Brasilia (Brazil), Ibero-American Cultural Festival (Puerto Rico), etc…

Currently, he performs in world tours and records exclusively with Spanish Brass Luur Metalls and with the quintet, he organises three brass festivals in Spain: the SBALZ Festival in Alzira, Brassurround Torrent and the Rafelmetall Festival With his Chamber Music formation SPANISH BRASS Luur Metalls, Carlos has published 18 recordings: Luur-Metalls Spanish Brass Quintet, No Comment, La Escalera de Jacob, Spanish Brass Luur Metalls & Friends, Delicatessen, Caminos de España, Absolute with Christian Lindberg and Ole E. Antonsen, Gaudí’um, Metàl.lics, Retaule de Nadal with the Orfeó Valencià Navarro Reverter, SBALZ Brass Ensemble, Brass and Wines with Steven Mead, Brassiana with Lluís Vidal Trio, The Best of Spanish Brass SBLM, Tell me a Brass Story, viBRASSions and Metalls d’Estil.
